SemanticCamp London is a free, two-day unconference on the Semantic Web and related technologies that takes place in London on February 16th and 17th 2008 at the Department of Computing, Imperial College, South Kensington, London. It follows the principles of BarCamp, including the rules of BarCamp. See also the SemanticCamp page on barcamp.org.
The event is designed to try and bring together the different communities and approaches of people trying to build the Semantic Web - both through the 'official' W3C approach and through community efforts like microformats, OpenID, OAuth and other related technologies - and the practical, business and social challenges and opportunities that open data brings with it.
The proceedings on Saturday start at 10am, but please arrive for 9.30am so we can start promptly. There'll be sessions all day with a break for lunch. We finish at 5.30pm, have a closing session and then go out to eat, drink and be merry at a number of choice local pubs and restaurants.
Then on Sunday, we start again at 10am and finish at 5.30pm, clear up and then, again, proceed to eat and drink our way through the local pubs and restaurants.
Imperial College is comfortably situated between 4 London Tube stations:
There are also many buses that go to the campus, more details are available through the campus information site
SemanticCamp London is still looking for sponsors. If you are interested, please contact me.
SemanticCamp is not an overnight BarCamp, unfortunately. Though they rock, we are taking a slightly different approach for a variety of reasons. People coming in from outside London may want to find accomodation. Remember, Imperial College is in the Kensington area, which is well-served by buses and tubes (the nearest Tube station is South Kensington).
Note: the organisers of SemanticCamp do not endorse any of the linked accomodation. You are encouraged to search around and find somewhere suitable.
